Title: private forum for drafts
Post by: viviridian on Mar 04, 2025, 12:20 AM
could we have a private forum for drafting threads in? I have some things to write about that I would like to chip at in multiple sittings before publishing.

iirc smf allows granting a permission for users to be able move their threads out of a specific board, which I think would be good for this.

smf has a save draft feature (!) that I'm not familiar with, but I think being able to get early feedback from a small group would be useful for some things

Just a standard forum, limited to a given group? That's certainly doable if so.

I might also look into how easy it'd be to share a link to a given draft, similar to Cohost.

yeah I was thinking it would just be a standard forum, maybe just limited to authenticated users.

I'm not sure to what extent drafts 'exist' but it seems like they can't have attachments, given this alert msg:

QuoteThis will save the text of your post, but it will not save attachments, poll or event information.

Ah yeah, drafts are a separate table from posts, so makes sense it's a bit different. I'm surprised drafts can't save attachments, though.

Oh yeah I noticed today that it says drafts also get deleted after 7 days which is kinda silly... especially when they're just text.........
